Cliffhanger by Hans van de Vorst:

“After the sun set behind the canyon’s horizon he packed his things (having only one hand available) and prepared himself for the jump. This took about 2 minutes, at that point he had the full attention of the crowd.

After that, he jumped on his thong sandals… The canyon’s depth is 900 meters here.

Now you can see that the adjacent rock is higher so he tried to land lower, which is quite steep and tried to use his one hand to grab the rock.

“A fun shot I took yesterday while backpacking near Mt. Hood. I was using the 10 second timer, so it was quite a scramble to get up there in time, the mountain kept clouding up before the shutter would go off so it took about 10 tries, but it was loads of fun”

“Jesse: I heard this story once, about when the…the Germans were occupying Paris and they had to retreat back, they wired Notre Dame to blow. But they had to…they had to leave one guy in charge of hitting the switch and the guy, the soldier, he…he couldn’t do it. You know, he just sat there, knocked out by how beautiful the place was.”
